On Sunday, the Plain Dealer published the rankings of Northeast Ohio Public School districts by both Performance Index Scores that indicate how well students are performing as well as "Value Added" scores which are meant to show how much academic growth students achieve in a year. Aurora ranks far higher in Performance Index, than Value Added. Which score do you think is most meaningful?
While new curriculum and new testing and new teacher evaluation systems are experimented with in hopes of improving education for students across the country, a key goal needs to be empowering and enabling all students to learn to the best of their ability.
In your opinion, what are the Aurora Schools doing best now to help you and your fellow students learn, and what could we be doing better? What improvements would you like to see as Aurora moves forward trying to maintain its high performance reputation while improving in its ability to reach and help all of its students learn more?
